DESCRIPTION:There’s encouraging news around packaging in response to the plastic crisis. Meet with Choose Plastic Free to learn more.Land Trust Building\, November 2nd\, from 2 to 4 pm. \nWhile the news is filled with the negative effects of plastic\, there’s progress being made on ways to help us keep it out of our lives and environment.  We are excited by some positive news around plastic-free packaging as well as Washington’s successful Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) bill. We’re also encouraged by the adoption of biomimicry as an approach to packaging design\, as well companies which are offering sustainable products in responsible packaging.  \nAt the meetup\, we’ll share some interesting interviews with companies who are taking the lead in rethinking packaging design. We’ll also have Zero Waste Washington’s Executive Director Heather Trim joining us via Zoom to bring us up to speed on Washington’s recently passed EPR bill. This bill will require companies to take responsibility for the proper recycling of their products. Our state is one of seven states with EPR packaging laws.  \nAnd we’ll be sharing examples of locally available alternatives that can help you keep plastic out of your life. We encourage you to bring recommendations and examples of plastic-avoiding strategies of your own!  This is a great opportunity to share information. DESCRIPTION:It’s painful to see tons of good building materials being dumped at the transfer station every year. There needs to be something to address this waste. We can do better! The ZWV Re-Use committee has been busy this year. Come here about our progress and exciting plans for 2026 and how you can help.
